How will this affect my current installation?

This is important so read carefully!

If you are using the original OptimizePress Theme for your blog and landing pages then you MUST install the OptimizePress Plugin before you install and activate the new OptimizePress SmartTheme.

The SmartTheme needs your OptimizePress license key to work and it pulls this from the plugin.

If you deactivate the OptmizePress Theme before you install the plugin, your LiveEditor pages will not be lost, they just won’t work until you install the Plugin.

Customers Using The OptimizePress Theme

Our recommended steps:

  1. Install and activate the OptimizePress Plugin (check that the license key exists).
OptimizePress Smart Theme | Insert OptimizePress API Key
  2. Install and activate the SmartTheme

Customers Already Using The OptimizePress Plugin

  1. Install the SmartTheme as you would any WordPress Theme – remember you can only run one theme on your site so the SmartTheme will take over the styling of normal pages & posts from your existing theme. LiveEditor pages will be unaffected.

What will happen to the original OptimizePress Theme?

It will be discontinued and will not be available for download in the future. All LiveEditor functionality will be available in the OptimizePress plugin which can be used with the SmartTheme.

Why is this different from the current OptimizePress Theme?

  • It’s built with all the latest SEO schema markup.
  • It’s a framework that allows us to add future themes.
  • This is the first of a range of themes in our OptimizePress suite.
  • It includes cleaner code to increase page loading speed.

We modelled the new SmartTheme from some other inspirational sites and also looked at ways you can improve your blog by avoiding these key mistakes.

What About SEO?

We have designed the SmartTheme to be compatible with all the latest Google requirements. It has also been designed not to conflict with any other SEO plugins.

If you want more SEO options on your site, we recommend you use third-party plugins like:

Here are some sites already using the SmartTheme.

I have three questions/suggestions. Perhaps the solution is already available, and I simply can’t find it.

1)The Recent Posts widget NEEDS images.

      2) Also, since these are links (as are entries in the Category list widget) it’s important to be able to make them the same color as the REST of the links on my site.

      3) Widget titles are all caps, even though I did NOT select that option for titles. How can I get these titles to be cap/lowercase?

      4) In general, being able to change font/size/color in widget text would be very helpful.

So far, I like the new Smart Theme! Thanks!

      • David Frosdick

Holly, thanks for the feedback. Can you contact support if you are stuck editing something and we should be able to help out 🙂

Can you send this to our support team and they will investigate.

    • Dani

HI, what’s the best way to remove WordPress Theme by OptimizePress – down in the footer? I tried using the OP promotions settings (making it blank and turning it off) but it’s still showing.

I also really want to make the logo slightly bigger, but need to retain the responsiveness, can you help?

      • David Frosdick

To remove the promotion option from the SmartTheme do it via the theme settings. Regarding logo size, please contact support and they might have some CSS code to help.

    • Pieter van der Kaaij

Is there any way I can get the featured image brighter, less dark?

      • David Frosdick

You would need to tweak the CSS gradient at the moment. We don’t have any option to to manually adjust that right now.

    • Bastiaan

The category result page doesn’t show all posts in one category. Older posts (from previous years like 2014) do not show up.
I’ve updated to 2.5.12. Any clue?

      • David Frosdick

Can you please open a ticket showing your examples.

    • Carla

Hi, how are you? I use OptimizePress just as a plugin. If you want to install the theme, do I need another installation key?
Thank you for your attention right away.

      • David Frosdick

No the SmartTheme uses your key from the plugin. You need the plugin for the SmartTheme to work.

    • Meredith

What do you use for the pop up and the chat? I am going to be implementing a new theme and this looks PERFECT! super excited that OP rolled out with something like this!

      • David Frosdick

Our popup list building tool is OptimizeLeads. The chat is Drift.

    • Collins Agbonghama

Beautiful theme. I have a site I think this will be a perfect fit. Gonna try it out now.

Do you know if Smart Theme will work with LearnDash?

    • Tom

is there an easy way to copy your blog theme header/menu navigation to your already made pahes in live editor?

i really like the navigation menu following with the scroll down the page and the search box and possible shopping cart in there too.

is there an easy way to do this? instead of trying to copy everything and then using css hacks to make it work?

      Thank you 🙂

      • David Frosdick

Hi Tom. Not in this release. I like what you have done so far. It looks great!

        • Sergio Guillén

Is it planned for the next release?

    • Andy

      Hi Guys.

Before switching to the SmartTheme, I just wanted to check that I could still have a homepage similar to how mine is now – – i.e. with feature / hero image plus call-to-action, and menu, but blog posts themselves restricted to their own page. So a sort of middle way between the “blog-first” approach of most examples and Vadim’s (above) site, which has no blog at all.

      Thanks very much,

      • David Frosdick

Hi Andy, The SmartTheme wouldn’t produce a home page like that. You can use a LiveEditor page to style the home page and then have a blog alongside that.

    • Eddie

Hi, I am interested to buy optimizepress $97 package . Does this package come with the smartTheme included as well ?
I can’t see smartTheme was included inside the plan package in your sales page .

      • James Dyson

        Hi Eddie

Yes it does! We’re working to update the sales page as soon as possible 🙂

    • Juan

Hello, could you please tell me exactly how to download the smart theme? I’ve been using OP2 for about 6 months.. I have installed bouth OP pluging and OP theme..

I cannot find the smart theme here..

      Looking forward..

      • David Frosdick

Hi Juan, please contact our support team and we’ll check you r account details

    • Jake

I switched to the Smart Theme, but I notice that I can’t duplicate the existing navigation. The Navigation is just like you have it on this page and the other pages are styled differently. This is a definite glitch…. For an example of what I’m talking about, look at the top navigation on this page and then click on the home page link and look at how the navigation is different. Any help would be appreciated.

      Thank you!

      • David Frosdick

In this release the navigation can’t cloned to LiveEditor Pages. I’m sure the LiveEditor nav could be style to match, I’ll have a play around with it myself.

    • Ginger

Looks good but when I do Live Preview, it takes one of my blog posts and makes that the header, not using my original header at all. There are no longer any of my optins either on the header or on the posts themselves. When I looked at others who have taken the plunge I don’t see any optins. Also the blog posts are 3 times the size of the original which feels almost like screaming at the reader. My question is am I going to have to do a ton of work to get this corrected? It’s hard to tell from the live preview. Thanks!

      • David Frosdick

Hi Ginger, The new blog post layout does have sidebars that you can turn off. This first release also includes the larger header design. In your case it might be worth doing some test or setting up a test site to play with the SmartTheme.

    • Luciano

      Hi David and OP Team…

I need to translate the text “continue reading” and the other words (search, etc…) to my language (Portugues Brasil). Do you have any suggestion?

      My blog:

    • Michael

      HI OP Team,

First of all great framework. Im sure this will blossom into a truly amazing thing.

I have a question: How do I format the Homepage Hero Title & Subtitle?
I want the wording to layout a little better. It currently looks like a run-on sentence and doesn’t read very well because of it.

Is there a way to do this?

Also, how do I make the Homepage Hero Button larger?

      Thanks in advance.

      • David Frosdick

        You can add new CSS, for the title: homepage-hero-title {CSS HERE} – The button is .op-homepage-hero-button {CSS HERE}

        • Michael

Thanks David. Much appreciated. Keep up the awesome work.

    • Brian

Looks great. Can’t wait to upgrade my site and take advantage of some of these new features — particularly the content upgrades. And thank you to Kevin from support reassuring me this would be a flawless transition!

Love you guys (and gals) at OP!

      – Brian

      • David Frosdick

Thanks for stopping by Brain! I’ll pass on your comments!

    • rob

Is there a way of setting the posts so they simply inherit the YouTube Video that’s embedded in the post? i.e. the thumbnail graphic instead of having to create and upload your own?

I haven’t got time to be creating and editing images as featured images for the blog, so just need a quick and simple solution that’s still going to look professional.
      thanks. Rob

    • Tyler S

Do you have any size suggestions for Featured Images? I was using 630 x 315 px on Optimize Press 2. What image size recommendations do you guys have for Featured Images and Hero Images?

And what are the dimensions for Posts and Pages with the “full content” layout and the layout with the sidebar?

      • David Frosdick

Hi Tyler, check you Google analytics and see what browser size the majority of your visitors use and what devices. As a general rule I would use 1280px wide as a minimum for a hero image for desktop.

    • Rob

How do I enable facebook comments instead of the standard blog comments on the new theme? thanks

      • David Frosdick

We would recommend using a third party plugin. Your comments are stored in Facebook, as long as you use the same App ID your comments will pull through. We are going to test some FB plugins and provide a list.

        • Rob

Thanks I installed a few but they produce the comments section twice – once under the post and another section under the footer – not sure why? Not compatible maybe? Thanks

          • David Frosdick

Hi Rob, disable the “insert_facebook_comment_in_content” filter under:
OptimizePress > Compatibility > Advanced WP Filter Settings” that should do it.

            • Rob

Thanks, I tried that but its still appearing below the opt in on the posts – so one comment section at the bottom and another comment section below the opt in 🙁

            • David Frosdick

OK, let us do some testing.

    • Janet Beckers

Is this website using the new theme?

      • David Frosdick

        Yep 🙂

        • Janet Beckers

Thanks. Also…..we have OP2 on our site and..perfect timing…we are about to do major work in a rebrand. We will be keeping many pages and my question is…to transfer everything over to the new theme will our current pages need to be created again from scratch (like we had to do when you upgraded from op1 to op2) or will they still work (Please don’t tell me we have to start from scratch again). I want the look and feel and functionality of all pages to be the same so I don’t want to have some using op2 and some using the new theme. Thanks

          • Sergio Guillén

I have the same issue. With the new theme, my blog and my pages are not consistent. This is specially important for the navigation bar. Is there any way to convert old pages built with the LiveEditor into new pages running the SmartTheme?

    • Tom

I have a webshop right now to deliver groceries. Will this perfectly fit in my current Woocommerce webshop? Do you have an example of the webshop pages?

      • David Frosdick

This is a theme so it would be the primary theme and allow pages with woo products. If you are already using a theme then don’t enable this one. We’ll get some demos setup. The SmartTheme is not a full blown shopping cart theme as such. We’ve designed it to make nice product pages for those selling a few products.

        • Tom

Is it possible to make a full blown shopping cart theme in the future? You may get more customer segment as wel 😉

    • Marco de Bruin

Hi which lettertype and size is this site using on the blogsite? So this blogpost.
And it seems wider than my site. How can I fix this?

      • David Frosdick

We use Proxima Nova on this blog.

        • Gus

Proxima nova? Can’t find it under the typography settings. How can I get it? Thanks!

          • David Frosdick

It’s not a free font. You have to buy that one 🙂

    • Marco de Bruin

Hi, great theme, I like it, just what has been needed.
My question is why YouTube is not one of the social network options?

    • Ron McLean

Me too Dana, I had to go back to the old theme and disable the plugin to get control of my blog again. I se no ay with the new theme to do anything with my blog setup.

    • Rick Smith

Teardowns on sites using the new SmartTheme would be very interesting to me.

    • Christa

Loving SmartTheme so far! Is there custom CSS I can add to make the logo bigger? It’s SO TINY. I’ve tried using Custom CSS I’ve seen just for Optimize Press 2.0 but it doesn’t seem to work for SmartTheme. Thanks!

      • David Frosdick

Hi Christa, you can add CSS under custom scripts.

    • Ian

Hey Sergio, Can’t wait to see what you create, please share it with us!

      Kindest, Ian

    • Oskar Andermo

Thanks! Yes, I am getting proud of my website which is a nice feeling.

I cant find any info on this. In your manual it says: “Use Featured Image as Hero Image – Set the featured image uploaded to your blog post as the featured image (this is the default option). Set this to No if you want to use a standard image across all your blog posts (see Featured image options below)”. This works well but it doesn’t set the image for categories. I have it set for blog posts and pages, the only thing missing is categories.

      • David Frosdick

Correct. At this time it’s not available for categories but I will add it to the feature list.

        • Albert B.

Hi David, I’d like to second this. I love the new theme and set up my new blog using it – the only thing bugging me is not being able to set category heroes.

          • David Frosdick

It’s something we will look at in future updates.

    • Bernd

Hi, great template … looks great in Safari or Mozilla Firefox, but are there problems in Internet Explorer 11 to show the site/content correctly?

      • David Frosdick

Can you please send some screenshots to support with your site info so we can troubleshoot.

    • GardeLeFeu

(sorry for me english,i’m french from belgium ^^)
what I realy need it’s more teardown to build more efficient pages.
I’ve see some’s on YouTube but I realy want some more.

Could you realy do that, for me and you’re other user’s

Thank’s a lot for you’re beautifull work and for the time, you’ve use for me

      Have a nice day

      ps:for the other reader’s too 😉

      • David Frosdick

We have some more teardowns planned. Also check out the site critiques.

    • Pieter van der Kaaij

Does OptimizeMember still work with the SmartTheme?

      • David Frosdick

How do you mean… Like using OPM code in blog post pages?

    • Oskar Andermo

Ok. Installed and its great. Question. How do I change the hero picture for categories? I still want the feature image to be for the blog post hero but cant find how I change the category hero?

Now it looks like this –

      • David Frosdick

I’m sure this is in our feature list. Your site is looking great!

    • Oskar Andermo

David – do I use the same licence API for the op site or do I need a new one for the plugin?

      • David Frosdick

Yes, if you install the plugin while running the old theme you get a warning saying “you are running both”. Disable the theme and the same key will working the plugin. The keys work for 1 domain name.

    • Oskar Andermo

Im a coach, not a designer, I am speaker, not a coder… that is why I love optimize press!

    • Jeff Fitzpatrick

Sorry to be a bit negative. The theme looks great but it looks as though it has given preference to graphic designers rather than marketers. The best marketing real estate has become a static header image. I want my visitors to see a video, a sign-up box or something else “live” when they land. Can we have an option to lose the header? That change is all i need to make me happy! Perhaps this will be in a yet to come theme.

Additional feature suggestions: call, SMS, email now buttons for mobile device users please.

      • David Frosdick

Thanks for the feedback Jeff. This is the first version. We have more features to include and we discussed this option. Our priority was getting a fast stable theme framework released. Having a framework allows us to produce more themes much quicker. How would the options for call, SMS work?

        • Jeff Fitzpatrick

Hi, I have now worked through the manual and played around with things. I am a lot happier!

    • PAul

Quizzes. We need a quiz builder.

    • Vadim

      Hi Ian,

Many thanks for amazing theme! I knew that you are developing something really cool! And I am very glad to use it on my site. Here is the link

    • Rafael

Fantástico. Irei aplicar hoje mesmo em meu blog e começar a indicar mais ainda para nossos clientes. Na expectativa de mais novidades.

      • David Frosdick

Excelente! Estamos ansiosos para ver o seu site.

    • Grant

This is why I’ve been a customer for over 5 years – love this – thank you!

      • David Frosdick

Thanks Grant! Your site looks great BTW!

    • O

Gosh, i installed this and what i like about the previous is that it was simple to use and there were many themes.
This i feel i have to start from absolute scratch. I cant seem to see any preset landing pages, that i can edit. So I will continue to use that until i figure out how to work this :/

      • David Frosdick

If you need any help just reach out to our support team and we can assist.

    • Dana Scranton

Followed the instructions precisely, and it didn’t work. Had to go back to the original theme.

So much for the seamless transition.

      Features sound great, but …

      • David Frosdick

Hey Dana. Drop us an email at support. Make sure you have the OP plugin to retain your exciting LiveEditor pages then install the theme. I’d need to see more to troubleshoot.

    • Taillard

      Please, guys!
Can I use this thema with a WPCOURSEWARE LMS plugin?

      • David Frosdick

I’ve not tested it personally but can’t see why it wouldn’t it works. Someone else might be able to share their results (?). If you try it please let us know how you get on.

    • michael dowds

It looks great as i haven’t got started yet and not sure about keys

Reach out to our support team if you need some help.

    • Onder Hassan

Hope you’re keeping well Sergio 🙂

Let us know how you get on with the new Theme.

    • Tyler S

Hey quick question. Do you HAVE to update to this theme. I have a larger site using Optimize Press 2. Will I need to update that theme to this new SmartTheme? It would change all the current layouts which I may not want.

So what happens to all the Optimize Press 2 sites established that DON’T update to this theme?

      • David Frosdick

Hi Tyler, That question is answered on the page. You would need to install the plugin to keep all your existing LiveEditor pages.

      • James Dyson

Tyler – just to clarify David’s comments here – there is no immediate need to switch if you have build out your site on the existing OptimizePress theme, but we will not be releasing any further updates for it. We will most likely continue to release bug fixes for that as we know people will take some time to migrate. If you would like our team to review your site and see what affects the new theme could have, drop us an email at the helpdesk

        • Tyler S

Thanks James. I’ll look to update a larger site after the holiday season. Thanks.

    • James A Dyson

Awesome work on this theme guys – I know how hard the team worked to get this release out and ensure it was tested fully. I know this is going to produce great results for our customers 🙂

    • Scott

I would like to have the ability to create an optin that refreshes within the pop up window to give the confirmation message or refreshes within the row and shows the confirmation message so people are not taken off the page. It’s seems so silly to take people off the page and take them to a separate confirmation page and expect them to get back to where they were before the interruption.

      • David Frosdick

You can do this with our OptimizeLeads tool. Are you a member of our ClubHouse?

    • Emmanuel Oberg

This new theme looks amazing, but please could you support groups in your mailing list integration?
Having to manage separate lists isn’t ideal when you want to send the same newsletter to all subscribers, and only need to send something specific to a sub-list once in a while. Keep up the good work!

    • Matthias

      Hey guys,

thanks for the great new stuff. I’m very happy with optimizepress and this many years. In my opinion: The best Landingpage Tool and very easy to use. And last but not least: Great support (o:

      Best regards from Germany

    • Sergio Felix

Oooh exciting times, can’t wait to try this out, thanks guys!

PS. My current site will be put under construction for a bit of time just to see what this theme can do though. 😉

      • David Frosdick

Looking forward to seeing your site!
