Building A Double Optin Email List
Now of course, while building an email list is great, the next challenge will inevitably be how to get a quality email subscriber.
While there are many things you can do to improve the relationship quality with your subscriber. It may not be enough on the front end when first adding the subscriber. A few problems:
- An email address can be fake.
- A subscriber may only be interested in the freebie you're giving away.
- The email you send might bounce.
- You could be wasting money on email service costs.
Important issues to consider, particularly since most email autoresponder services require a paid subscription, which quickly adds up in expense as your email list starts to build.
So what's the solution?
Many autoresponder services quickly discovered how easy it was for the above problems to occur and introduced a feature called a 'double opt-in'.
In short, a double opt-in requires a subscriber to click a link in an email your autoresponder service will send in order to confirm their subscription. Once clicked, they will then get added to your email list and receive their free incentive.
This ensures that the email address is real and the subscriber is committed to receiving further emails from you, thus increasing open rates and reducing bounces.
